Today marks a full week of daily posts and images! It is not the largest of numbers, but before too long we shall see this number has rolled on by to 77.
Today’s image takes a step back in complexity, and dips a toe into humor. Not the belly-rumbling, concentration-breaking, can’t breathe sort of humor, but rather the ‘heh, I can relate to that’ kind of humor. I could not get through a day without a good dose of satire, sarcasm or absurdity, and I have been that way as long as I can remember.
Most parents tell their kids to try hard, do there best; to become a doctor or a lawyer. Some children have too much wax in their ears and cynicism in their hearts. My poor parents oft found themselves bereft of wind from the number of times they tried asking, begging, demanding, forcing, cajoling me into making an effort and possibly finish something. It was no reverse-psychology when they told me, ‘You should be a comedian.’
Now, I am no comedian, but I do find myself very funny, and that is a dangerously addictive intoxicant. It is wonderful to be able to make yourself laugh whenever needed, but when you believe your own laughter to be a chorus, you drown out the peanut gallery with whom you occasionally need to mingle. Fear not, passerby, for I assure you that the voices in mine ears are in full, raucous agreement that the following wit is of immeasurable value.

I went with a red background to help establish emotions of anger and frustration. However, with the only-slightly-annoyed expression on the foxes’ face, I feel that the red was a bit overkill, and a darker tone would have made the image pop a bit more.
I am still seeking out just the right level of anatomical detail and exaggerated proportions I enjoy working with. The large feet and head are cute; make the image feel more playful, but are too attention-grabbing. Since level of detail is not something I am striving for, I need to work harder on making the action and context of the scene the stars of the show. Perhaps if the fox was more hunched over, better showing his anger flowing through a clenched fist slamming down on the mouse, with a toothy snarl clarifying that he is 42 pieces of straw past the retired camel’s back.
