In lieu of inspiration, fall back on determination. I struggled to think of a concept for today’s piece that I would be able to finish in the time allotted. I had two ideas that were simply too elaborate. I dug deep and brought out old topics that have stuck with me through the years.
Some of you may be familiar with the Dead Alewives and/or Dr. Demento, and those of you that are likely recall the amazingly-true-to-life Dungeons and Dragons skit that involved, among many medieval fantasy tropes, the ever-reliable Magic Missile. Some time later, a viral video is born in which some LARPers (Live Action RolePlay-ers) do battle in a wooded area, with the mage throwing deadly pencils of Magic Missile. I enjoyed a fair bit of D&D in my school days, though I never got far enough into it to properly learn the rules or lore; but magic missile has a place in my brain, heart, and artbooks for eternity.

I am the type of person that dreams of making a detailed game plan and sticking to it. In reality, I am very flighty and temperamental and I end up following my whims and tumbling through the throes of indecision. I was so hell-bent on focusing on vectoring and 3D modeling, only sprinkling in some sketching… Now, 8 days in, I have not done any modeling, only a few days of vectoring, and I am surprising myself by wanting to draw every day! I had no intention of attempting comics of any style, but I suppose it is just in my nature.
The medieval fantasy theme is one of my absolute favorites, and I suspect it will be a common setting for many of my posts and images in the future, but who knows what tomorrow brings?
