Expressive Omissions

One thing I have never been accused of is being subtle. My toolset consists of a hammer and a thousand questions of what, where, when, how, and why to hit something. There are many various ‘why’s as to my images having abstract backgrounds.

The first is simply saving time. I would like to put out a daily image, and drawing, redrawing, redrawing, and finally redrawing anatomy takes up the vast majority of my time touching stylus to tablet. I can already see multiple facets of improvement from just two weeks ago, but there is still such a long way to go.

The second consideration is, what does this contribute to the image? Adding a simple line denoting the separation of floor and wall, then having two more colors added in to represent them does not add much depth to the result. The abstract texturing of the background does more to spice up the image a little bit, though I certainly have everything to learn about improving it.

The third element of this background is the color. I can try to pick a color that brings out the emotion of the image, or at least provide a more interesting contrast for the subject(s).
